The youth program is a purpose filled happening place.  Our youth program is based on two important scriptures, Matthew 22: 37-40 and Matthew 28: 19-20. From these scriptures we find 5 purposes that all our programming centers around: worship, fellowship, mission, discipleship and evangelism. This model comes from Doug Fields' "Purpose Driven Youth Ministry".

Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'  All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." Matthew 22: 37-40

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28: 19-20

Our Youth Group mission statement was derived with these purposes in mind:

First United Methodist Church's Youth Ministries exist to PRAISE God, to REACH OUT and SHARE our LOVE so that all may GROW together in God's word.
