We are a United Methodist Church
Congregation with a unique personality.
People from many different denominational backgrounds gather for
worship at
First Church. Thus, our worship tries to be aware of how different
Christian
traditions have shaped our approach to God. Communion is received in
the pews
or together at the Lord's table and is open to all who wish to partake.
Our
focus is on seeking the presence of Christ through worship and
Scripture.
We follow the United Methodist
tradition of joyous singing with hymns, songs
and choruses that express sound doctrine and lively faith. As
Charles Wesley put it: "We attempt to unite the two so long disjoined,
knowledge and vital piety."
Bible study and
prayer are important to us. We have a number of small groups that meet
for
study, prayer and fellowship. We have services of praise and music, as
well as
healing. We want the worship to be open and accessible to visitors in
our
midst. Most importantly, we want the Spirit to move freely among us.
People
dress as they are comfortable.
