Director of Music

Sylvia has been the Director of Music at First UMC for 23 1/2 years. Her life and work has always been focused towards music. Before becoming our director of music, Sylvia directed choirs at various churches, taught piano lessons, and taught school. She graduated from Michigan State University and taught Elementary music in the Port Huron School District until retiring six years ago. Sylvia has three married daughters and 10 grandchildren.

If you could have invented one thing, what would it be? Some type of device a child would use at the piano to develop good hand position while the muscles are developing.
