ELYFs
(ELementary Youth Fellowship)

The ELYFs exist to find those kids who feel lost between the ministries for young children and the youth group.  Giving the kids an extra place once a month to get together and have fun, ELYFs targets kids in grades 2 - 5.  They usually meet on Sunday nights, once a month, so keep watching for when the next event happens.  Coming up, the ELYFs will be collecting donations towards the "Souper Bowl of Caring".  Read more about it below.

The ELYFs will be meeting Sunday night, January 28th  from 6 - 7:30 p.m. to practice a skit for the Souper Bowl of Caring.  We will play a few games and, of course, have snacks!

SOUPER BOWL OF CARING
Our ELYFs will hold soup pots at church doors on Souper Bowl Sunday.  They will join young people in churches all across the country to collect money and canned goods for those who are hungry and hurting.  In 2006, 11,000 groups in all 50 states and outside the U.S. participated in the Souper Bowl of Caring generating over $5 million.  All of the money collected is donated to our local Soup Kitchen.  None of the money is sent to Souper Bowl headquarters.  Organizers only ask that we report our collection so national totals can be determined and announced.  Since the Souper Bowl of Caring became a national grassroots event in 1993, more than $33 million has gone to help those in need.  On Super Bown Sunday, 140 million people all over the world will tune in to the Super Bowl football game.  There will be parties with abundant food, friendship and fellowship.  At the same time, there will be people worrying about staying warm, finding shelter and a warm meal.  Please join our ELYFs as they demonstrate God's love by loving their neighbors through the Souper Bowl of Caring.  It's a simple, yet significant act of caring for others.  Drop $1 in the soup pot as you leave worship next Sunday.  Those who need help may not know that you cared, but God will.  And our young people are developing hearts for giving that can last a lifetime!  Please support their efforts!
